Movie Character I Want to Play #TadkaTuesday

We are all in some way or the other fascinated by the stories that are created on the celluloid, knowing fully well that they are imaginative and ingenious to say the least with an exemption of some being inspired from true events.

We have all lived vicariously the journey of the characters while watching a movie with some even carrying the feeling home. Who doesn’t want to be in a dreamland living a life “king-size”? With living in huge mansions, traveling in private jets, so on and so forth. With everything at your command, life being at ease with things around and with there being always a happy ending. Who wouldn’t want such a life and I being no exception. But then there are so many movies and numerous characters that have transported me to a utopian world, if I may use that here.

But then when I was asked this question there is one character that stood tall amongst scores of others that have made me identify with them. The biggest reason amongst others was that it would be every aspiring man’s dream life. It is that of Kabir Thapar aka Bunny in the movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Kabir at one hand has a dream job of traveling around the world and covering the best that the universe offers so also gets to experience the finer things in life first hand. But then on the other hand he has shown that to achieve you got to dream first - “care to dream & dare to achieve” is brought out clearly by him and I would love to live by that cliché. He has shown a strong desire to go for his dreams and was ready to make whatever sacrifices that were needed. That is another aspect that inspired me and made identify with him.

Also Kabir brings to the board another very important aspect that we lack in our society, is that of agreeing to disagree. Kabir has been brutally honest throughout the movie, which is what I am too. He is a very social person but managed to keep his personal life separate. That brings me another facet of his personality and which I dearly adore in my life is that having you close group of people, for whom  you would always want to go that extra mile.

So to wrap it up I would just not want to play the character but imbibe and reproduce all of his aesthetics in everyday life.

As children we are fearless of the world and our only agenda is to be happy. We mingle and get along with anyone and everyone and never bother about who that person is and which family/religion/cast/creed so and so forth, s/he comes from. However as we grow up we tend to forget the ultimate goal in life of being happy and tend to tilt towards becoming more snobby and selective as a result of which we are illusioned from the real purpose of life and living.

Xenial in particular is defined as “friendly relationship between host and guest”, however here I have used it in a broader sense with an effort to drive home a point how we are turning recluse. Here in India we emphasize on Atithi Devo Bhava which in literal translation in English means 'The guest is equivalent to God' or 'Be one for whom the guest is God'. However we have long forgone that.  Let alone for others but as mentioned in the teachings in almost all of the holy scriptures across religions which I vaguely quote here one must atleast for one's own-self greet the guest with open arms:

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to guests and strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.”

Wicked

We have to come to realize that even money can’t buy everything, you may millions with you but the resources are limited. One has to be wise and cunning in using them or should I say wasting them in case of water.

This is a very simple thing that if we keep in mind saves us lot of embarrassment and also keeps away any negativity. One should never be judgmental about others as you don’t know on what ground they stand. An obese man may have been facing the side-effect of some medications and therefore it is not wise to assume and make a judgment about him that he is so unfit and must always be binging upon junk food being careless about his health.

Looking barbarously towards the crippled man he stood there impatiently waiting for the train during the rush hour traffic showing off his chiseled body covered in designer wear. He geared himself to make way in through the herd of people. The crippled man smiled at his (im)modesty as he easily entered the empty handicap compartment.

Rather than being proud, be grateful and thankful of what the almighty has bestowed us with. Also be modest and kind towards the unfortunate ones.

We keep running behind materialistic things and forget about people who need us and vice-versa. In our quest of worldly pleasure we forget to simple things in life which bring happiness and the biggest of all is to have love in our life without which there is absolutely nothing of gain that we will take to our tomb.

In this day and age there are more grandparents at old-age homes than at our homes, which sadly is a true fact. We fail to understand a simple fact that an old person is equivalent to a growing up kid and needs to be dealt with equal care, love and compassion. However on the contrary this is the very behavior that we cringe about and get irritated with. It’s time we introspect before life shows us a mirror.

The world has always been unfair to the Father. It’s fair to say that mothers have been our pillar of strength, but our silent and biggest strength is mostly drawn from fathers. Mothers can at times shed a tear or two and relieve themselves; however the Fathers on most occasions have to be nonchalant in their expression just to be source of inspiration to the others in the family, more so at times of distress.
