Zen

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "Z".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Zen”.

Sprints on veranda
Shameless screaming in schoolyards
Fearless me

When did I lose that?
The zeal of a bee, I had
Blissful used to be

Without distortion
Sans figment, happy again
Zen like want to be

~ KARAN

As children we are fearless of the world and our only agenda is to be happy. We mingle and get along with anyone and everyone and never bother about who that person is and which family/religion/cast/creed so and so forth, s/he comes from. However as we grow up we tend to forget the ultimate goal in life of being happy and tend to tilt towards becoming more snobby and selective as a result of which we are illusioned from the real purpose of life and living.

Young Mind

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "Y".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Young Mind”.

Bursting energy
Ever ready keen young mind
New start, age a count

~ KARAN

As they say “it’s all in the mind, age is just a number”. It so true, as long as one has desire, fervor and energy and is ready to go for it with all heart, no age can stop one from setting new goals and achieving them!

Xenial

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "X".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Xenial”.

Leave the doors ajar
Xenial with guests, strangers
May have pleased angles

~ KARAN

Xenial in particular is defined as “friendly relationship between host and guest”, however here I have used it in a broader sense with an effort to drive home a point how we are turning recluse. Here in India we emphasize on Atithi Devo Bhava which in literal translation in English means 'The guest is equivalent to God' or 'Be one for whom the guest is God'. However we have long forgone that.  Let alone for others but as mentioned in the teachings in almost all of the holy scriptures across religions which I vaguely quote here one must atleast for one's own-self greet the guest with open arms:

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to guests and strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.”

Wicked

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "W".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Wicked”.

Misguided young souls
Disgruntled minds, failing pray
To the wicked will

~ KARAN

The world has turned intolerant and unmindful whereby leaving people to fend for themselves. Add to it the frustration of joblessness and lack of opportunity the youth today is the most vulnerable species and the radical organizations are wasting no time in tapping them and luring them into the life of hell for their sole wicked willed interests.

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Vacuous”.

No need to know it
Still questioning is his right
Is vacuous mind

~ KARAN

These days more often than not we come across people who show a lack of thought or intelligence while deliberating and debating. Case in point spokespersons of various political parties.

Ubiquitous

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "U".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.   Today I chose “Ubiquitous”.

Apple, Mango, Grape
He wanted it all, got none
Ubiquitous trait

~ KARAN

It’s due to our desire to be present everywhere and get everything we fail to enjoy the one we have at that point in time.

55 Fiction # 26 ~ Thrifty

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "T".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Thrifty”.

"Bought a bottle of water for Rs.20 he happily quenched thirst. Months later he readily paid Rs.100 for it. A year after hopping shops he finally found one and had to offer Rs.500 for same bottle. Couple of years later even Rs.10,000 could not fetch him one, he realized being thrifty would have been wise."

~ KARAN
We have to come to realize that even money can’t buy everything, you may millions with you but the resources are limited. One has to be wise and cunning in using them or should I say wasting them in case of water.

Salacious

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "S".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Salacious”.

Her modesty outraged
She went to the cops hopeful
Met salacious eyes

 ~ KARAN

It’s very insulting and sad that rather than helping a woman in distress cops show seductive interest in her plight.

~ KARAN

“The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.”
                                                                                                    ~ William James

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.   Today I chose “Quaint”.

Wish I was brother
Quaint society, she thought
Brothers play holi

~ KARAN

Even after women coming at par and excelling in every thought about field, the society still look down upon them, especially in rural India.

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Penitent”.

Time heals wounds, but scars
Will always remain, act wise
Than be penitent

~ KARAN

As they say there is no use in crying over the spilled milk. And Bucchianeri has so fittingly said here -
“Be wise today so you don't cry tomorrow.”
                     ― E.A. Bucchianeri

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Opaque”.

Marred state of mind
Wrecked marriage & ruined life
Blame opaque nature

~ KARAN

Most relationship in life or for that matter life itself is ruined for want of transparency. The more you allow your soul mates and loved ones to be part of you and share everything with them, the merrier and happier life will be J

55 Fiction # 25 ~ Nonjudgmental

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's. Today's word is "N".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Nonjudgmental”.

"Observing them for a long time, he said, “Don’t mind, since last hour your teenage son is not able to say a single sentence without a stutter, why don’t you take him to a doctor. The father turned around and calmly replied, just got his vocals operated, today is his 5th day at speech therapy."

~ KARAN

This is a very simple thing that if we keep in mind saves us lot of embarrassment and also keeps away any negativity. One should never be judgmental about others as you don’t know on what ground they stand. An obese man may have been facing the side-effect of some medications and therefore it is not wise to assume and make a judgment about him that he is so unfit and must always be binging upon junk food being careless about his health.

55 Fiction # 24 ~ Modest

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "M".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Modest”.

Looking barbarously towards the crippled man he stood there impatiently waiting for the train during the rush hour traffic showing off his chiseled body covered in designer wear. He geared himself to make way in through the herd of people. The crippled man smiled at his (im)modesty as he easily entered the empty handicap compartment.

~ KARAN

Rather than being proud, be grateful and thankful of what the almighty has bestowed us with. Also be modest and kind towards the unfortunate ones.

Love

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "L".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Love”.

Love has compassion
Love is kind

If you speak human and boast of an beatific tongue,
But don’t have love,
Your words will always be wrong,
You would have nothing left in the trove,

Love has passion
Love isn’t blind

If your hearts beating a patriotic song,
But you don’t have love
It’s just resonating empty gong

Love is angelic
Love has hope
Loves has belief
Love helps cope

If you seek worldly bliss,
Possess all the strength and means,
Without love it is all in vain,
At cessation, there will be no gain.

~ KARAN

We keep running behind materialistic things and forget about people who need us and vice-versa. In our quest of worldly pleasure we forget to simple things in life which bring happiness and the biggest of all is to have love in our life without which there is absolutely nothing of gain that we will take to our tomb.

Kiddish

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "K".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Kiddish”.

I wanted to be there,
But when? I would always wonder,
Was greeted with a blank stare,
When I finally met her,
Her hands were warm,
But in the deep brown eyes,
Her sorrow swam,
Her voice had gone squeaky,
But she hadn’t lost hope,
She had turned sneaky,
There wasn’t any scope,
That was their notion,
She was kiddish is what they thought,
And sent her here to rot!

~ KARAN

In this day and age there are more grandparents at old-age homes than at our homes, which sadly is a true fact. We fail to understand a simple fact that an old person is equivalent to a growing up kid and needs to be dealt with equal care, love and compassion. However on the contrary this is the very behavior that we cringe about and get irritated with. It’s time we introspect before life shows us a mirror.

Jackal Mind

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "J".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.   Today I chose “Jackal”.

Should I say or not
My jackal mind is to blame
Now that she is gone

~ KARAN

It’s not always the fickle behavior of a person but sometimes one’s (Jackal Mind) desire to seek to gain advantage from the difficulties of another, which leaves that person with no choice but to leave us as we are even late to decide whether to own up our mistake and express our unconditional regret for it.

Insouciant

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "I".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Insouciant”.

Bereaved and saddened
Can’t even cry, has to be
Insouciant Dad

~ KARAN

The world has always been unfair to the Father. It’s fair to say that mothers have been our pillar of strength, but our silent and biggest strength is mostly drawn from fathers. Mothers can at times shed a tear or two and relieve themselves; however the Fathers on most occasions have to be nonchalant in their expression just to be source of inspiration to the others in the family, more so at times of distress.

Humorous

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "H".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Humorous”.

When I am down and dry,
I laugh not cry,
When my accounts dwindle,
I laugh and rekindle,
When I struggle for words to say,
I laugh unable to sway,
When I give it my best,
And still fail,
I laugh with a quest,
In humor I hail.
 ~ KARAN

Here I would want to simply impress upon the words of the biggest comedian of all times:

"To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it." ~ Charlie Chaplin.

Generosity

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "G".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Generosity”.

Open hearted help
It’s not always the wealth
Kind soul generosity

 ~ KARAN

It’s not always that only if one is wealthy enough one can be generous. Generosity is more from one’s deeds than from ones money.

55 Fiction # 28 ~ Fearful

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's. Today's word is "F".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today I chose “Fearful”.

Failure is meant to be,
Failure is for real,
Far away from success I may be,
But I have no fear,
Falling over and over again,
I will get up with a gain,
With strength to steer,
My instinct stands clear,
Stopping me in my stride, I don’t see,
Failure would not bother me!

~ KARAN

Failure is the first and biggest impediment to any initiative that you want to succeed in. On the contrary we should make it as a stepping stone to success by taking it in our stride and incorporating the learning’s in urge to succeed.

55 Fiction # 22 ~ Esthetic

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's. Today's word is "E".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”. Today I chose “Esthetic”.

Wanting to plan something grand and different for her birthday, placing the bread-loaf cake on scarf over the table, he lit entire room with candles.
Entering the house she was overwhelmed oblivious to the peeling walls and disconnected electricity, as he sang the birthday song. Mesmerized she welled-up by his esthetics in idea and action.

 ~ KARAN

It’s a universal belief that only people with deep pockets, bigger house, costly furniture, shiny cars so on and so forth are the ones who can live life king size and have esthetic sense of doing up their houses. However esthetics is on ones ideas and our action to back the same.

55 Fiction # 21 ~ Daring

I am participating in A to Z Challenge 2016 where we write 26 posts in a month each day on one word from A to Z barring Sunday's.  Today's word is "D".

My theme is “Human Characteristics”.  Today I chose “Daring”.

Don’t dream for Moon,
It isn’t yours,
you ain’t rich,
You don’t have boon

I have talent and wit,
Dare to dream I am fit,
Will prove it,

If not moon, will have the stars,
It’s only for the rich, is just a farce,
All I need is intent and opportunity,
Neither fortune nor pity.

~ KARAN

From the Polyester Prince to the Missile Man of India to the famous King of Bollywood to the Superstar down South and numerous more have one thing in common that they have proved to the world - “Dare to Dream and Care to Achieve”. They have shown the world that it’s never really the lack resources or fortune but the lack of intent and clarity in purpose that hinders one from achieving their dreams.
